Cambridge has a long tradition with rowing, most famously celebrated by the annual Oxford vs Cambridge Boat Race. You can read an interesting article on the history of the boat race here.

in addition to the boat race, every year rowing teams from across the county take place in 'The Bumps' on the River Cam. The aim of this race is to overtake the opponent in front and 'bump' yourself up the finishing order. You can find out more about this unique competition here.
